Review: Bog Off Bullies by Matt Price

I downloaded this book with great enthusiasm; it came to my notice at an opportune time, as a friend's daughter is being bullied. It was a great disappointment, for several reasons.

First, the blurb promises "A Proven, Step-By-Step Method To Banish Bullies From Your Life Once And For All." There is, in fact, no method at all in this book - just a tired collection of the usual platitudes - tell your parents or a teacher, ignore them, smile at them and pretend you don't care - plus all the usual blame-the-victim suspects: don't go anywhere alone, delete your social media accounts, keep your belongings where no one can find them, and so on. There is nothing new in any of this, and nothing that will work either, if a person is being bullied.

The blurb further states: "Today only, get this Amazon bestseller for just $2.99. Regularly priced at $4.99." In fact, the book is priced at $3.57. This is a blatant piece of false advertising that isn't even legal in most civilised countries.
Aside from the lacklustre content, the presentation of the book is truly awful. The body text is in a font so tiny that one can hardly read it at all. Somehow this has been made impervious to the kindle's power of altering the font size, so that the headings can be made as large as one likes but the body text remains tiny whatever one does.

Add to that the apparently total lack of proofreading, patronising tone and ridiculous expressions such as 'legislative laws', and you have something that I don't honestly feel deserves even the one star I gave it on Goodreads.
