Ask Aunty Tabitha

Yes, this is totally me. Totally.

I haven't posted in my blog for a while, and for a rather embarrassing reason. Having been through absolute hellfire changing all my search engines, email accounts, and even blog hosting (that one didn't work out and here I am still), I got everything set up and reasonably stable, and then realised that I didn't know what to write about. Really, not one clue. This isn't like me, and I don't know why I've dried up like this. There were plenty of political issues I could have talked about, but either they're being covered by people far more knowledgeable than I, like Robert Reich, or the things are so nightmarishly gruesome that faced with any kind of discussion, I just freeze. I mean, seriously, insulting the Pope? BOMBING A PRIMARY SCHOOL? Yeah nah, I just feel frozen when I look at it.

Speaking of the Pope, though, just in passing, I will mention that although back when he was first elected I was very suspicious of him, due to his having been american (no, the lack of a capital is not a typo. You lose your right to a capital when you BOMB PRIMARY SCHOOLS.) His Holiness Pope Leo has stood up and been counted and I am happy to admit, very very happy to admit, that my conspiracy theory about him being a GOP plant was baseless and silly.

Be that as it may, I'm still at a bit of a loss for what to write about, and so I have decided on the lecturer's last resort. I am going to take questions. So go ahead. Need a life coach? Problems with your dog? Fleas in your carpet? Bring me your problems and I shall dispense wisdom.

You can comment here on the blog, or if you prefer, you may email me at spambucket999999@gmail.com with your question.

Same Shit, Different Name

You will notice I have rebranded this blog as Ferality. That's because I was originally going to start a new blog, and that was the name I chose. I'd found a site to host it - Overblog - and I set it up, and I'd been posting for a couple of weeks, and then when I went to write a new post, I discovered that both of my existing posts had been deleted.

It took me weeks to get a support person to talk to me, and when I finally managed to get one, despite many emails back and forth my posts are still missing, nor have I been given any sensible reason for their having been deleted (I don't count 'Gee, maybe it was the spam filter' as a sensible reason.)

And so  I've returned to my old haunts, but I had become so attached to the new name that I've decided to keep it.

So, now here we are in March. I've had an okay year so far - mostly it's been occupied with getting the new book out. I'm happy to say that it is now out, and available everywhere in paperback and as an ebook; the hardcover edition is still in the process, in fact that is my task at the moment, that final read through of the proof copy before I release it. It's really just a formality, but I never feel quite right without that last careful step.

It's really good. Find it wherever books are sold.

So that will soon be all done, and I'm already working on my next, which is going to be another fairytale retelling, like Dancing Feet. This time, the story I'm translating into the modern day is the Princess and the Pea. For the purist, of course, this isn't a real fairytale - it's one of Hans Christian Anderson's - but his stories occupy, I feel, the same position in Western culture as do those collected by the Brothers Grimm. Stay tuned!
