S is for Souls - the Flames of Time series, by Erica Lucke Dean

For the last instalment in my series of introducing new authors to try, I have a pair of novels from Erica Lucke Dean, whose wonderfully hilarious Ivie McKie series I showed you on 21 November.

The Flames of Time is a much darker proposition than Ivie McKie; it is almost gothic in its tone, starting as it does with a young girl in a strange town, a mysterious stranger, and an old house. These time-honoured elements, however, are woven into a story that is all new and completely original.

Dean sets a cracking pace right from the start, and there is not a dull moment in these two books. I don't know how long the series is going to be, but I'm practically certain that if you read one, you'll want to read them all.

Find the Flames of Time books, and Dean's other work, at AMAZON.
Splintered Souls is available in both kindle and paperback editions, and its sequel, Scattered Souls, will release on 10 January.
